		<description>thanks, what frustration here.  I can&#039;t believe Apple would overlook bad sectors, but that appears to be the case.  I don&#039;t get it, as bad sectors have always been my #1 hardware problem.</description>

		<description>&lt;p&gt;nice writeup. i experienced similar problems, yet the bad sector seems to be on the firewire drive i&#039;m writing too. it will hang on the bad sector for hours and then finally file instead of moving to another sector. the zero erase in osx will fail also. it&#039;s just one sector, the rest of the drive is good. how can i repair this or get around it? so far the only solution is 2 partitions and then somehow the bad sector ends up in a place in 1 of the partitions that isn&#039;t used. is there a bad sector repair utility for osx? &lt;/p&gt;
